Why subscribe?Id love to create more community around crafting. This is a spot to share about our knitting projects, crochet, embroidery really, all of it. I find crafting and creation to be such a way of life and am genuinely thrilled when I meet others who share this way of being in the world. It feels like a quiet rebellion - maybe just a small way to resist this mad world. Im a psychotherapist and I know this informs my crafting and the reverse is true as well. I bring these simple hand...

confiscated knitting needles

It’s been a good kind of busy here, “choiced busy.” It has been fun to take some quick trips this last month (one to Playa del Carmen, Mexico and one to Santa Cruz, California). Lots of knitting and crocheting happened on the trips, although my knitting need…

a week of snow and knitting

In the winter of 2022 and at the very end of Christmas day, my daughter shared a video she had made of secretly planting bulbs in the fall when we were traveling. It was a surprise and my “big” gift. She had ordered almost 1000 bulbs from this catalog

finally two video tutorials

You’ve been asking and I finally did it! I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I’ve created two video tutorials! One is a step by step guide to make the “Magic Yarn Ball” and the other is “Make Your Own Version of the Leipzig Blanket” Both tutorials are easy to understand and simp…

a new cast on

A weekend trip to Santa Fe with a friend was partially centered, for me, around a trip to a yarn store I had not yet visited. The little store, called Hacer, not far from Santa Fe’s main plaza, had a welcoming porch and occupied an old home. It was smaller than I had imagined with a nook to the right of the door, behind the large counter, full of yarn. …

Six on Sunday

This wall of mugs make me so happy - they are such cheery vibes! Some days I wish I would have learned how to do ceramics. Not enough time to do all the things one loves and COULD love doing. I did take a class once, and the artist teacher used my micaceous bowl as an example for the class of what NOT

in progress

I was just browsing Ravelry and Etsy looking for a really fun, top down raglan with unique color work that would be dearly loved and coveted by my 2-year-old niece. (If you have any ideas, please share!) Then I thought about all the projects I have going…. should I really start a new one? I have to say though, I DO finish my projects. I like to have many going at a time. Different projects for different needs. Here’s my list of active projects:

on knitting and rocks

I was able to spend some time on the ocean this last weekend with a close friend from our Bard days. We stayed in a small Airbnb in Cardiff-by-the Sea and had time to wander the pebble and rock beach of Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve all day Sunday, before the rains came in. I must tell you, I was absolutely awestruck by the white, round, egg-like rocks rolling up on the shore.

A five-month cardigan!

Here it is! Finished. The Mattie Cardigan I finished it last Thursday, and I have only not worn it when I was wearing jammies instead. I am head-over-heels in love with it. I imagine I will be wearing it every day for a very long time. After focusing for so long on all the little mistakes and wonky parts, this rustic cardigan finally feels complete. This sweater was
