pan-fried dover sole + corn risotto

This weekend is Memorial Day, and all across the country, schools had their last day of school yesterday. That can mean just one thing: SUMMER IS HERE! And the absence of school means the bounty of summer produce: tomatoes, zucchini, corn, strawberries, peaches — they’re all ours for the next three months.

so into that #25

Hi!! I’m back in California and am slowly but surely defeating my jet lag, catching up on the emails I ignored for two weeks, and working on an absolutely delightful recipe for pan-seared dover sole with a buttery tomato sauce served over corn risotto for this Saturday’s What To Cook. I’m soaking up one of the last few workweeks before school’s out and …

grilling all the things with gaby dalkin

Welcome to the third installment of What To Cook’s “easy-but-fancy” menus! We crushed holiday entertaining, we tackled our fear of cooking lamb this spring, and now… it’s time to take it outdoors to grill all the things! My friend Gaby Dalkin has written the most approachable, beautiful, easy-breezy grilling cookbook on the market. Seriously — all of the other grilling books are male-centric, meat-heavy, and don’t highlight the best part of grilling: how EASY IT IS!

'the idea of you' author robinne lee reacts to the movie adaptation and the new ending

Hi from Spain! I am so thrilled about this week’s episode of So Into That with The Idea of You author Robinne Lee. I absolutely loved The Idea of You. I recommend it all the time. It was my gateway drug into the romance genre… although, as its author

black pepper pork chops

When George and I lived in Coronado, we would always pick up pre-seasoned black pepper steaks from Boney’s Bayside Market to grill at home for a super easy and delicious dinner. I saw them when we were back in Coronado for spring break last month and it triggered so many memories — I knew I had to work a black pepper marinade into a What to Cook recipe ASAP!

how to get rich AF, with vivian tu (@your.richbff)

Hola from Spain! I can’t wait to share a recap of the trip I’m on with Nellie and Lily, two of my best friends from high school. You may recognize their names from my "you went to boarding school?!" podcast episode with Lily, or, if you’ve been a WTCer from the start, from the

"fish and chips"

If you were expecting batter-fried fish and French fries… SURPRISE!! Today’s “fish and chips” meal features good old fashioned potato chips, crunched up and spread on top of fillets of rockfish — a mild, meaty, non-fishy tasting white fish that’s a fave of mine to cook with (and that came in your

so into that #23

Hi, hi! Woah, it’s May 1st. Five weeks until school’s out and summer begins. Motherhood makes me feel like I accidentally hit the fast forward button — I’m a broken record, constantly saying things like “oh my gosh, how is it May already?!” I’m excited for summer — for long, sunny days with my babies — while also low-key (ok, high-key) panicking about ho…

a really simple meal plan v.10

Hi and happy (almost!) May!! This month’s meal plan has some spring stars, like mango peanut salad and chimichurri fish with asparagus and cherry tomatoes. PLUS it contains one of my very favorite recipes from the WTC archives: slow-roasted pork butt!!
